Use the authority given to you, with boldness and confidence.
Jesus is the Son of God, bled and died on the cross for all who believe.

The Bible teaches us that we have power in the name, so to use it is to know Jesus everyday.

I pray you will learn to use the name of Jesus with authority.

Thank you to Tinus Swanepoel for his drawing of Jesus that was used in Chapter 6.

The Name of Jesus Chapter one
Believe in His Name

Jesus can only listen when you call His name.

Memory Verse:
1 John 3: 23 “and this is His commandment that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ.”

Sometimes we don’t understand why we don’t get the things we ask for. Sometimes they take long, sometimes we get them quickly.

Jesus needs to know you are talking to Him!

We need to believe in Jesus, who then enables us to have boldness and power in the name and to know He is the Son of God.

So when we pray to Jesus we need to start or end with His name:
In Jesus name I pray ……. or thank you for this day in Jesus name. Now you are using your authority you have by the power of the name of Jesus.

Let’s read together:

John 14:13-14 “And I will do whatever you ask for in my name, so that the Father’s glory will be shown through the Son. If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.”

Jesus shows His willingness, if you ask with the right motive of your heart.

Chapter Two
Authority in His Name

Jesus Christ is the highest authority in the universe.

Memory Verse:
Matthews 28: 18 “all authority has been given to me in heaven and earth.”

Mark 16: 17-18 “who believes in my name…”

Everything in the universe listens to Jesus – His authority covers three worlds: Heaven, earth and hell. He has given every believer the right to use this authority when you use His name.

If the principal gives anybody an order you will listen because He is the boss.

Jesus says our faith in God is like a seed. When we put our faith into action, when we release it to God it takes on a totally new nature. It takes on the nature of a miracle in the making.

Let us read together:

John 1: 1-5, 10 & 14

“1 In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 From the very beginning the Word was with God. 3 Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. 4 The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out on all people. 10 The Word was in the world, and though God made the world through him, yet the world did not recognize him. him and believed in him; so he gave them the right to become God’s children. 14 The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son.”

Philippians 2: 9-11

“9 For this reason God raised him to the highest place above and gave him the name that is greater than any other name. 10 And so, in honor of the name of Jesus all beings in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will fall on their knees, 11 and all will openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Chapter Three
Life through Jesus

Jesus is the only way to the Father.

John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”

He is your Savior: You need to receive Him because without Him there is no life.

The name of Jesus Christ brings completeness and wholeness into your life when you receive Him into your heart. We call it “to be born again”. Going to church will not get you born again, good deeds alone either. Jesus is the only way.

Memory Verse: Matthew 1:21 only.

Matthew 1:21-23

21 She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus—because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 Now all this happened in order to make come true what the Lord had said through the prophet, 23 “A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel” (which means, “God is with us”).

Jesus born from Mary who became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Son of man, yet Son of the Most High God.

Luke 1:34-35

Then Mary said to the angel “how shall this be since I do not know a man? And the angel answered her and said” The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you, therefore, also that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

We need to receive Jesus as the Lord of our lives – He is the way, the truth and the life.

The living Son of God. When you receive Jesus you also receive His authority.

Chapter Four
Jesus is our Inheritance

The Meaning of the Name

A person’s name is who you are. When we mention a name you know who you are talking to. The name only has power as long as we know the person to whom it belongs. If we know nothing about that person then their name means nothing to you.

If we know nothing about Jesus Christ then His name will be of no use to you. When we really know Jesus then we have confidence in His name and it means everything to us.

The devil is powerless when confronted by the Name of Jesus. He was defeated at the cross by the precious blood of Jesus. Just like a cheque at the bank. If you don’t sign it, it will be worth nothing. Unsigned cheques are not honoured at the bank. They are useless. Sign every request or petition with the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It simply means every time end with the name of Jesus. Otherwise it is useless or meaningless.

Prayer is the act of making withdrawals from Heaven’s bank. Every request is like a cheque.

So use your authority and end your prayer in “Jesus Name.”

Let us read together and find out more about our Inheritance.
Matthew 16:15-16
“He said to them (Jesus speaking) “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said. “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God…”

Our inheritance is forgiveness of all our sins.

Colossians 1:13
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love.”

Colossians 2:10
“…and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:3 “For you have died, and your life is hidden in Christ Jesus.”

Hidden here means, completely not seen, behind Christ.

You are in Him, He is all around You.

The power of darkness, meaning the devil. Translated simply means, “taken us from darkness which is sin, into the light, Jesus has saved us and we inherit heaven.”

When you become born again, you can fill your name and date in the cheque of life.

Chapter Five
Trust

Isaiah prophesies

Isaiah 42:1-4
“Here is my servant , whom I strengthen – the one I have chosen, with whom I am pleased. I have filled him with my Spirit, and he will bring justice to every nation. 2. He will not shout or raise his voice or make loud speeches in the streets. 3. He will not break off a bent reed or put out a flicking lamp. He will bring lasting justice to all, 4. He will not lose hope or courage, he will establish justice on the earth. Distant lands eagerly wait for his teaching.”

God the Father speaks through the prophet Isaiah announcing Jesus, in the Old Testament. Now in the book of Matthew we see Jesus brings meaning to the prophecies.

Just listen to how God said it. He refers to Jesus as a servant, meaning Jesus was about the Fathers business, and that God loves Him. Jesus would persist meaning He will carry on until it is done and that we can put our hope in Him.

God wants us to trust in Jesus.

Memory Verse:
Psalm 37:4 “Seek your happiness in the Lord, and He will give you your hearts desire.”

First He tells Isaiah to proclaim the word, then when the time was right Jesus comes to for full the word, and Jesus is empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Chapter Six
Jesus the Supreme Power

Sustaining the universe

Hebrews 1:2-3

“but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end. He reflects the brightness of God’s glory and is the exact likeness of God’s own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for human sins, he sat down in heaven at the right-hand side of God, the Supreme Power.

Memory Verse:

2 Corinthians 5:17
Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being, the old is gone, the new has come.

Through Jesus came forgiveness of sin. He is seated on the right hand side of his Father. When you receive Jesus, you are a new person, a different person filled with kindness and goodness, because you receive the nature of Christ Jesus.

Chapter Seven
No Other Name?

The Name above all names

John 16:26-27
26 When that day comes, you will ask him in my name; and I do not say that I will ask him on your behalf, 27 for the Father himself loves you. He loves you because you love me and have believed that I came from God.

Memory Verse:
Matthew 3:17
And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”.

John 16:23-24
23 “When that day comes, you will not ask me for anything. I am telling you the truth: the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your happiness may be complete.

Acts 4:12
Salvation is to be found through him alone, in all the world there is no one else whom God has given to save us.

Jesus has given every believer the right to use His name. Whatever we do we are to do in His name – as His representative and ambassadors. We walk on this earth in the name of the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Romans.8:16-17
God’s Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God’s children. 17 Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ’s suffering, we will also share his glory.

His confidence is based on the fact that we are new creatures with God’s ability at work in us, through Christ Jesus.

Chapter Eight
Reigning in the Power of the Name

We all want to be part of the winning team. Stay in Christ and centered on Him. For example – if you are walking in the rain and you move out from under the umbrella you are going to get wet. The moral of the story is to stay centered daily in the Word of God, and in Prayer using “In the Name of Jesus” the Name above all other names.

To reign in the name of Jesus means:

  • To believe Jesus is the Son of God.
To receive Jesus as the Lord of your life.
We receive eternal life through believing.
Through Jesus we can call God father, we become God’s children.
We are to go and tell others, make disciples.
You have the authority of his name.
And the power to perform miracles.

John 3:16
For God loved the world (you and I) so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believers in Him may not die but have eternal life. (eternal means never ending.)

Romans 8:16-17
16 God’s Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God’s children. 17 Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ’s suffering, we will also share his glory.

By Jesus Christ, we have been adopted as sons and daughters of God the Father. As such we are heirs of God. We belong to the family of God.

Memory Verse:
Romans 10:9-10
9 If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. 10 For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved.

If you have never received the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, then it will be a privilege for me to lead you in a prayer.

Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, and that you paid for my sins on the cross with your blood. Jesus I call on your name to save me. Please forgive my sin. I now receive you as the Lord of my life and believe that you live in me through the Holy Spirit and that I am now a child of God. Thank you Lord that you have saved me.

In the Precious name of Jesus.

Amen.
When we mention a name it immediately brings to mind who that person is. The name only has power as long as we know the person to whom it belongs.

Mark 16:17-18 … “who believes in my name”.

John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me”.

Jesus has given us all the authority we need in His Name. Yet do we realize how much authority we have or even use it.

My prayer is that you will discover it for yourself!

Regards Pat.
