Foreword

This Bible study is going to help you see yourself as God sees you. Reading the Word of God goes hand in hand with prayer. They are two sides of a coin. You cannot do the one without the other. I hope you are going to enjoy doing the Bible study and enjoy finding out just how precious you are. My name is Pat and I have enjoyed writing this book just for you.

We are going to concentrate on the book of Isaiah 43.

Here God is talking to the Israelites through the prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament. When we read the Bible we are going to look at it as if God is also talking to us.

Introduction

Let us read Isaiah chapter 43 verse 1 to 5.

Isaiah 43:1 “Israel, the LORD who created you says, “Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine. 2 When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. I will give up Egypt to set you free; I will give up Ethiopia and Seba. 4 I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor. 5 Do not be afraid—I am with you! “From the distant east and the farthest west I will bring your people home.” Good News Bible

You are precious
Lesson One

Isaiah 43: 4 “I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor.” Good News Bible

Maybe you are wondering why we are starting at Verse 4? It is because this verse says something important. You are Precious

Things to Discuss!

Sometimes we can feel inferior, sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we feel mad, but sometimes we feel glad, all in one day. We are truly difficult individuals.

If I asked you, do you feel precious or kind of special? What would you answer?

Most people suffer from a self image problem at one time or the other. How you handle it is the big question.

So ask yourself these questions:

How do I handle it when I am low?
How should I handle it?

Do you experience God for yourself? How? by reading the Bible and making time to pray and to worship.

What is prayer? talking to God.

How do you encourage yourself?

Lesson Two

Isaiah 43:1 “Israel, the LORD who created you says, “Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine” Good News Bible

Things to Discus

Let’s talk about fear, the Bible teaches us that fear is the opposite of faith.

When you read the statement “Do not be afraid” Does it sound like a command?

So if the answer is “Yes” then why don’t we do it?

Do you think facing your fear can help you?

Is guilt a part of being afraid?

You are precious
Lesson Three

Let us read verse 1 again. Today we are going to take a look at – I will save you. It sounds like a promise to me, what do you think?

Isaiah 43:1 “Israel, the LORD who created you says, “Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine” Good News Bible

Things to Discus

Do you think God keeps His promises?

I will save _ _ _ ? Are you important to God?

Why did God create you?

Things to Discus

If God created you He knows every hair on your head? True or false?

  • Do you hear God talk to you?
Do you make time to listen?
Do you think God knows your name?

It is comforting to me to know that I am the daughter of the most High God, that He knows my name and the I may call Him Father.

Lesson Nine

Discuss

Do you think that God is the creator of the universe?

How big do you think God is?

Mm … I never thought about that before.

Why?

Think?…………….uhm

Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. 20 Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. 21 For your heart will always be where your riches are. “ Good News Bible

You are Precious
Lesson Eleven

Isaiah 43:4 “I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honour.” Good News Bible

Things to Discus

Accept God’s love

Witness to one another of God’s goodness.

We learn in verse 4 that God’s people are dear to his heart and that He will defend us. We can have confidence that God is for us. 1 John 4:4 says that God in us is greater than the powers of this world.

You are so important to God that He is prepared to give up nations to save you.

YOU ARE PRECIOUS
Lesson Twelve

Do you feel that you are God’s most precious treasure?

I pray your answer is Yes. For God so loved the world (you, me and everyone) … John 3:16.

We are so loved. You are precious to God the same God of the universe and when you believe and receive Jesus as Lord of your life you may call God Father.

Isaiah 43:1-4 is such a rich passage of scripture full of promises, full of hope and full of love. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed it and that new joy enters your heart and mind so that low self esteem and lies of the past fall away as you gain new revelation knowledge from the Word of God.

Do not be afraid, I have called you by name – you are mine. I will be with you, because I am the Lord your God. You are precious to me and I love you.

YOU ARE PRECIOUS
Lesson Thirteen

Let’s read Psalm 139 together and allow the psalm to minister to you in all the areas you need healing.

Psalm 139
1 LORD, you have examined me and you know me. 2 You know everything I do; from far away you understand all my thoughts. 3 You see me, whether I am working or resting; you know all my actions. 4 Even before I speak, you already know what I will say. 5 You are all around me on every side; you protect me with your power. 6 Your knowledge of me is too deep; it is beyond my understanding. 7 Where could I go to escape from you? Where could I get away from your presence? 8 If I went up to heaven, you would be there; if I lay down in the world of the dead, you would be there. 9 If I flew away beyond the east or lived in the farthest place in the west, 10 you would be there to lead me, you would be there to help me. 11 I could ask the darkness to hide me or the light around me to turn into night, 12 but even darkness is not dark for you, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same to you. 13 You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because you are to be feared; all you do is strange and wonderful. I know it with all my heart. 15 When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother’s womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there— 16 you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began. 17 O God, how difficult I find your thoughts; how many of them there are! 18 If I counted them, they would be more than the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you. GNB

The Lord knows you; He has looked into your heart and knows you intimately. He even knows your thoughts. There is nothing God does not know about you and you are never alone anywhere! You are precious to God! Wherever you go God is there. Even in death God is there. When you were created God was there. When you are born God sees the end and what you will do and become and creates you for good works, to love Him with all your heart and all your mind and your body. You are precious.

My prayer for you is that through the scriptures you have discovered how loved and blessed and important and precious You are to the Lord.
