(This is one of my College assignments that I did at the Nehemiah Bible College in Jeffreys Bay, during 2001. I trust that this will bless you also)

The book of Corinthians reveals a challenging way of living; God’s Ways, God’s Thoughts, and the Wisdom of God.

Our ways plunged mankind into death and decay. God’s ways lead to Life and Peace. God’s ways and thoughts are spiritual, our ways and thought s are carnal.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “”For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” NKJV

Thank God for His ways. He never fails to cease to maze me. His ways are always better by far than we ever expect.

The wisdom of the world leads to strife and division. Strife and division is the fruit of the root of bitter envy and selfish ambition. As soon as we operate in the wisdom of the world we become ensnared and captive to the devil, because Satan is the father of the wisdom of this world.

The opposite to the wisdom of the world is God’s Wisdom.

This is the Wisdom that we find in God –
The wisdom which created the universe. It is the Wisdom that created Man to be in Fellowship with God. It is the Wisdom that sent Jesus Christ to be a sin sacrifice for man.

If we take a look at the nature of this wisdom, we will find:

  • It is Pure
    It is Peaceable
    It is Gentle
    It is willing to Yield
    It is full of Mercy
It is full of Good Fruits
    It is without Partiality
    It is without Hypocrisy

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” NKJV

The Bible talks a lot about your heart. These are the qualities of the Heart.

The message of the cross was the most powerful filled wisdom from God.

1 Corinthians 1:20-25 “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” NKJV

Philippians 2:8-11 “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” NKJV

The Lord Jesus Christ abandoned himself to humility and obedience because this is the Nature of God.

  • Weakness precedes strength
    Humility precedes glory
    Submission precedes authority
    Servanthood precedes exaltation
    Lowliness precedes greatness

In total weakness, submission and faith He entered Hades full of the expectation and hope that His Father would Raise Him from death by the Mighty Power of the Holy Spirit.

The nature of God is described as the nature of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and explained in this way –

  • Each Lives for the other
Each is the Light for the other
    Each Loves the other

Although God the Father is in the Highest Position, it is obvious from scripture that He serves the Son and the Holy Spirit in that He glorifies and exalts them.

The Lord Jesus Christ suffered in giving Himself to meet the needs of people.

  • He suffered sleepless nights
    He suffered time and energy
    He suffered hunger
    He suffered rejection
    He suffered abuse

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 “Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” NKJV

Our greatest ambition must be to become servants because Jesus said “You are the reason I am here.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,” NKJV

Farmers Plant, Farmers water but it is God who makes the crop Grow.

What is the Power of God?

1 Corinthians 1:18,24 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” NKJV

Corinthians then goes on to tell about the Lord’s supper. It is one of the most serious and solemn sacraments given to the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:26 “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” NKJV

Jesus Christ crucified is the Power of God. Jesus Christ died once and for all, so that we might live forever. This is the victory of the cross.

Jesus Christ died, knowing the principle of greatness – He humbled Himself knowing that He would be highly exalted through the resurrection. This was His Faith and Hope. This is also ours knowing Jesus died for us.
